Overview & Highlights

Located in the heart of Arnolds Park, Iowa, Nautical Bar and Grill is the perfect destination for those craving a vibrant and satisfying bar & grill experience. From the moment you step inside, you’ll be enveloped by an energetic atmosphere that buzzes with lively conversation and the warm hum of good company. Whether you're winding down after a day on the lake or gathering with friends to catch the game, this spot strikes a balance between relaxed fun and a spirited social scene.

The menu at Nautical Bar and Grill is a treasure trove for fans of classic American bar fare, elevated with fresh, hearty ingredients and creative twists. The Reuben, packed with house-made corned beef, tangy sauerkraut, Swiss cheese, and 1000 Island dressing on marble rye, is a comforting tribute to a timeless favorite. If you’re in the mood for something juicy and indulgent, the French Dip with thinly sliced beef and melted Swiss on a fresh hoagie, served with au jus, offers a rich, savory bite that truly satisfies.

For those who love a good sandwich with robust flavors, the Philly option is a standout, letting you choose between sliced beef or grilled chicken topped with grilled peppers, onions, and provolone, all nestled inside a fresh hoagie – a perfect combination of smoky and melty goodness. The classic Pork Tenderloin sandwich, with breaded pork on a fresh bun, is another local favorite, crisp and juicy, especially popular on their half-off Tuesdays. Vegetarians need not worry either, with an inviting Veggie Wrap featuring grilled peppers, onions, and more.

Seafood lovers will appreciate the expertly seasoned and cooked fish entrees like the Plain Jane Tilapia or the more indulgent Maple Cherry Bourbon Salmon glazed with a tantalizing sweet bourbon sauce and topped with toasted pecans, served alongside wild rice that perfectly complements the dish’s rich flavors.

The wings—available traditional or boneless—make a great starter or snack, crispy, well-seasoned, and ready to pair with the extensive beer selection that patrons often rave about. Drinks here are thoughtfully curated, with knowledgeable staff ready to help you find that perfect brew. The bar’s stylish and spacious layout, featuring a garage door front to let in fresh breezes, creates an inviting and airy environment that’s ideal for both daytime relaxation and lively evening gatherings.

While the restaurant can get quite busy—especially on weekends and holidays—part of Nautical’s charm lies in its bustling vibe where families, couples, and friends come together for hearty portions and memorable flavors. Many visitors appreciate the attentive waitstaff, even during peak hours, and the added entertainment options such as darts and a pool table invite a bit of friendly competition after your meal.

Some patrons note the lively noise level, which can make conversation a spirited affair, but it also adds to the authentic, energetic ambiance that sets Nautical Bar and Grill apart from quieter, more subdued venues. If you’re looking for generous portions of flavorful, well-crafted bar and grill staples served in a warm, dynamic setting just steps from the shores of Lake Okoboji, Nautical Bar and Grill is a must-visit.

For a memorable grab-and-go or relaxed dine-in experience with something for everyone—from well-crafted sandwiches and seafood entrees to wings and wraps—Nautical Bar and Grill stands out as a beloved local gem where friendly service and quality food come together with a lively lakeside atmosphere.

Good food. I had the Pub Burger with fries. Not cheap but generous portions. $15 not including tip (& just had water). Atmosphere very loud. Difficult to carry on a conversation or hear those around you. Everyone speaking louder & louder to compete with the noise level.

Went here more than once. Had perfect service every time. Great beer selection and a wide variety on the menu. Even when they are packed you get good service.

Place was packed. Granted, it was a holiday weekend, so that’s to be expected to a degree. One setback was the fact that there was no wait list at all. It was every man for themselves. Grab an open table. However, with no open tables, and several couples and families waiting, once a table opened, it was grabbed up quick and sometimes by people that showed up well after you did. There really should be a hostess that takes names down and sits in an appropriate order. Took a little while to get a waitress, but again, they were busy, so it’s to be expected. She was nice and helpful, and we ordered our food. Table was dirty, but also probably due to being busy. We did get someone to come wipe it down. Food took a little while, as we assumed it would, but came warm. We did start with some fried pickles, and they tasted more like friend salt, with some pickle flavoring. Never had such salty fried pickles before. Yes, I expect them to be salty, but these were over the top. So much so, that I struggled through my burger due to the nautical sauce on it that was also very salty. Had to scrape most of it off to be able to eat it and still didn’t finish it. I think I just happened to order 2 salty items and just ended up being too much salt for one meal. Therefore, I’m not dropping the review for that reason, because I feel it’s quite possible that if I ordered different things, or at least not these 2 together, that the outcome would be different. Otherwise, aside from what was mentioned, it was a nice place, and staff did their best to keep up with a busy crowd.

I came for something simple, a Caesar Salad with shrimp. And let me tell you... It was actually really good! It was so simple, yet powerful. I was there with some friends and we all got the exact same meal, and it was clearly very fun for all of us. Would come again, and would for sure recommend. 10/10. Also shout-out to the waiter we had. He was cool

Busy place! We came on a Thursday night and it was packed. Good tasting food. Only complaint is there wasn't enough help to take care of all of us effectively.

Right in the heart of downtown Arnold's Park, this gem of a restaurant has a great welcoming atmosphere. A spacious and stylish bar gives way to a garage door front that's perfect for letting the breeze in and staying in the shade after a long day on the lake! They have great food and drink specials also. It's been a long time since I've been to a restaurant that hand breads their chicken and makes their own ranch in house. The cool thing is that if you want to order a burger, you can substitute the hamburger for the hand breaded chicken which really makes for some cool options. Personally, I really enjoyed the King of Memphis and I subbed out the burger for the hand breaded chicken and it was absolutely fantastic. If you aren't in the mood for that, there is Portside Pizza right next door! You'll be glad you visited!

First time at this bar & grill & it didn’t disappoint. The burgers were perfect & flavorful. The waitress helped us with picking out a beer that was to our liking. TV’s all around to watch some sports. Wide variety of food on the menu. Darts & a pool table for some after dinner fun. Family friendly as there was also a kids menu for the little ones.

First time here and we had the pork tenderloin with fries. They have daily noon specials during the winter/spring and Tuesday is half off tenderloins. For two sodas and two tenderloins with fries came to a little over $20. Very good sandwich and fries were good too. Wait staff were very attentive and checked on us frequently.
